I am providing my initial feedback on the Teton Fahrenheit -32C/25F (XXL) left zip model. I have been planning a winter camp trip in northern Ontario and have been carefully testing my prospective sleeping bags outside over the last couple of months. My goal is to find a high performance bag (or combo) that will give me escape from severe winter night time temperatures. What I have found is that it is quite possible to be comfortable at temperatures down to nearly minus 30, as we have experienced. The Eureka MB8 and Windriver(-40C) were tested at - 25 / -26 wake up temperatures, and I was very impressed with the warmth. These represent the "stand-alone" options. My other choices would have a secondary bag. As a rule I will not go within 15 degrees of a bags rating. While in a bag I am only lightly attired (no socks, pants, maybe a fleece top, etc) so I am interested in comfort, not survival ratings. My decision to get a Teton bag is based on having a really good bag that is lighter than the 23 - 25 lbs that these bags weigh. (no mummy bags please)The Teton bag was tested on a -17C night and it performed really well (stand alone). I was not cold at all and it warmed up very quickly. The bag is roomy and large. (great fit for 5'10", 245 lbs) The bag has several features that are vey good. The zipper baffle is deep and effective against heat loss. The bag generates a lot of loft when unpacked. It is light (10.5lbs) for its size and rating. The draw strings allow all sorts of "tucking in" options. Not having the zipper go all the way around the foot region minimizes heat loss at the foot. ( A good feature as far as I am concerned) The only thing I could see was that the zipper produces an unevenness; a sort of kink in the bag. It is caused by the zipper not being installed evenly. It does not affect performance or durability, but is a minor blemish. Its too bad because there is nothing negative to be said otherwise about the bags construction. (or performance) . And very importantly, it will stuff back into the sack that it comes with. It has compression straps to help get it back to its original pack size. (not quite - but close. It takes maybe 2 minutes to stuff)Overall, the bag performs well in cold; is well designed and well made. My willingness to rate this bag so high is based on overall value. I paid only 112$Cdn from Amazon. (The others cost 200 -250) It is a feature rich product; a bag that has something for everyone at a really good price.
