The Javlot is a long throw that produces 1,350 lumens at 2,395 feet. It has a tactical tail switch and a rubberized side switch that’s a little mushy. It works well every time, but I’d prefer it clicked. The fit and finish is top notch. The user interface is perfect. Turbo turns off with one click no matter how you got there. You get a memory and the actuator takes you through low, medium, high with double click for Turbo, triple click for strobe. A full click of the tail cap and you’re instantly in Turbo and a half click brings you to moonlight. Smart. For me that’s an ideal user interface. You never fumble around trying to find your place.The hotspot gives you enough throw and spill to provide ideal orientation. Its not like an LEP that’s so small and concentrated it’s one step above a laser pointer. If it’s midnight and you’re out looking for Fido this will do a great job.The Javelot comes with a handy, terrific plastic holster that clips to your belt. I like the magnet charging cap that eliminates the annoying, pain in the neck, rubber floppy doodle that can get in the way and at best is annoying to use. I like that you don’t have to take out the battery and put it in a charger.The beam has a mildly greenish tint that is barely noticeable on Turbo. My guess is the next generation will come with the newer high performance LED Luminus SFT-25R I think they’re using with the new Baton Turbo.The Turbo has a brilliantly pure white light that’s a genuine upgrade. I figure if it’s in the Baton Turbo it won’t be long until it finds it’s way to the Javelot.The only time I use a flashlight is when I volunteer for the National Park Service doing historic tours at a presidential home. I find Olight are made well, easy to use, well thought out and always reliable. They cut through the natural light from the windows and clearly illuminate what visitors come to the site to see. Simple things like the holster and the magnetic charging cap are convenient and a real plus. For $10 they offer a magnetic disc that attaches to a belt loop and connects to the tail cap. It hangs at your side for easy carry and quick access. Just break the magnetic grip and you’re in business. Then return it when you’re done. Fantastic. I just find Olight covers all the bases. They’ve become my LED of choice.
