The ProGear X-Go Plus is an amazing, lightweight, versatile, high-quality tripod! I could go with the positive adjectives to describe this tripod, but I am sure you get the point. Once upon a time, I was into photography much more than I am these days but as my kids get closer to going off to college, I realized that, for the first time in almost 2 decades, I will have time hobbies again. That coupled with our plans for my wife and I to travel, I figured it was time to start getting my photography gear dusted off. I realized that my old tripod has seen better days and needed to be replaced. While searching for a replacement tripod, this one really caught my eye. My old tripod was aluminum and the combination of the black color, robust looking components, and carbon fiber on the ProGear X-Go Plus it immediately piqued my interest. Since it checked all the boxes for my requirements and wants, and looked great, I decided to get it and I am very glad I did! It comes in a nice heavy-duty bag with a thick nylon cord carry handle with a drawstring closure. The tripod is very lightweight at just under 3 lbs., especially compared to my very old aluminum tripod. Even with as light as it is, it still feels solid and robust. The legs extend quite easily, and I like that there is a little ‘click’ to the tension knobs when you turn them to unlock the leg. It takes very little time to fold down the legs, unlock and extend the sections and unlock and lower the center section. The legs have quite a bit of range of angle adjustment so you will be able to find that perfect placement on just about any surface. Speaking of surfaces, you can remove the rubber feet to expose the metal spikes if you need them. You can detach one of the legs and use it as a monopod as well by simply attaching the ball head to it. You can also remove and reinsert the center post with the ball head into the tripod from below and use it to take macro shots. There are quite a few adjustments you can make to the height from as low as 17” all the way up to 62” and anywhere in between. It comes with the Arca-type FPH-52Q ball head that has a quick-release mounting plate. The head has two separate knobs, one controls the movement of the ball, and the other knob controls the 360° pan. There are several bubble levels as well. Every part of this tripod, looks and feels very high-quality and professional. It goes very nicely with my new camera backpack and fits (barely but it does fit) in the side pocket of the backpack and is secured in with a retention strap.I will be able to see how well this works and performs out in the wild, so to speak, soon enough as my wife and I are taking the kids to San Francisco next month and plan on taking a slight detour to Yosemite. I have used it a few times and already and it works flawlessly and is a major upgrade from my previous tripod. If you are looking for a great looking, lightweight, sturdy tripod, I absolutely recommend the ProGear X-Go Plus! This tripod seems well made. It's sturdy enough for my full-frame mirrorless camera, though not as sturdy as my "non-travel" tripods. But that's to be expected in a light-weight tripod that's meant to be carried around. I like how versatile it is, and I like the twist-grips better than the latches most tripods have. The swivel head is just barely up to the task of my camera, I think it's more optimal for smaller cameras and phones, but it works and like I said the entire thing is very light and compact so the trade-off is worth it.
