I have many flashlights but before this one I didn't have a thrower. There are woods around my house and I couldn't see into the woods far enough with my other flashlights to identify the source of sounds. 6000 lumens doesn't do any good when it's spread too far out. This has less lumens than other flashlights I have but that lens really puts the light out there. I love it. It's a toy and useful tool all in one. My only complaint is the amount of time it takes to charge. I don't use it often. I try to charge it every other month or so even if I haven't used it to make sure it's ready when needed. Even with little to no use between charges it takes hours before the indicating it's fully charged. I keep a flood flashlight beside this one and charge them at the same time. It uses a 26650 battery and it's usually charged in less than 30 minutes. I use the same power brick for both. I don't know if it has circuitry that's always using the battery or if the battery is just cheap and can't maintain a high level of charge.
