I’m very picky. My wife thinks it’s annoying the amount of time I put into finding “the one” no matter how insignificant the item is. I purchased a half dozen black “vegan leather” backpack style diaper bags (I’ll refer to the material as leather but they are all imitation). It came down to the Freshly Picked (FP) and Little Unicorn (LU). The Honest Company City backpack was a let down tbh and the KKB (knockoff of the Honest City) was more impressive at half the price.Similarities between LU and FP bags:-Softer leather then Honest/KZNI/KKB/Miss Fong/MomInside-Comfortable leather shoulder straps that are more backpack like than purse strap like.-Zippers are not as shiny. More function over fashion compared to others. Check out the Itsy Ritsy if you prefer tassels, ruffles and bows.-Overall more sleek and minimal. Doesn’t scream DIAPER BAG. I would consider these two the most gender neutral. LU gets the nod for “Cool Dad” diaper backpack.-Minimal pockets dedicated to insulation. Insulated pockets aren’t a highly used feature for our everyday diaper bag. If we’re going on an extended outing we’ll utilize an insulated bag in the main compartment. The Honest City backpack has the best insulated pocket options if that’s your thing.-Liner inside is easy on the eyes. They both have a light, neutral color. MomInside’s bright teal was a quick dealbreaker. Any dark liners were just not as easy on the eye.Why the LU is the winner over the FP for me:-Shoulder straps are more comfortable.-Stroller clips are built in and have a really cool little hiding spot. The FP bag did not come with stroller clips.-Softest leather. Very supple.-The included leather changing mat! Such a flex. Same soft material as the body of the bag. The FP bag has a larger changing pad but it’s a basic nylon material.-The soft lined back zip pouch. The FP zip pouch on the back is barely big enough for my man hand to fit in it. The LU back pouch is big enough for an iPad and has a smaller magnetic pouch at the top so you can put your phone for easy access.The LU bag is less expensive then the FP. If their respective changing mats were swapped and if the FP bag had the included stroller strap feature and the LU bag did not, I could justify the $30-$40 difference.-Third place in our diaper backpack royal rumble was the KKB backpack diaper bag. It’s the most functional at a great price point. My wife said it was a little too masculine for her. For the same price as the LU we could get the KKB for me and a second bag for my wife (MomInside/KZNI/Miss Fong).
