Was planning on getting a new bed as mine is about 9 years old and have seen better days (cheapie mattress). But after pricing it all out, decided to try this topper first. Unlike one I had several years ago on my previous bed, this one does not slip around. The straps keep it in place along with the no-slip bottom. The topper has a nice memory foam that conforms to your body shape, but not so soft that you sink into it or are trapped. I would say it's a medium firmness... not overly "plush," but not firm. For me, was suffering hip and lower back pain and after ONE night's sleep, awoke feeling much better! Only possible down side is that it rose to just a bit under 3", but it's plenty high enough and comfy, so happy with this purchase!
